This series contains maps, drawings, plans, blueprints, copies of permits, and what appear to be pages torn from the rough minutes of meetings of the Board of Canal Commissioners. The files pertain to the issuance of permits by the Board of Canal Commissioners and, later, by the Office of the Superintentendent of Public Works, allowing the construction of buildings, gas lines, sewers, cuts, piers, basins, and other facilities on, adjacent, or in proximity to New york State's canal system.
